Bumble and bumble LIVE

Last weekend we had the privilege of attending Bumble and bumble LIVE in Beverly Hills. The night started off with a cocktail reception where we met some great people, ate delicious food and mixed and mingled with some of the top salons on the west coast.



You may recognize the lovely lady on the left, she was the face of the Thickening Campaign! The reception was followed by a presentation by Howard McLaren (Bumble and bumble's head stylist). It was an amazing experience! We feel privileged to carry Bumble and bumble and love the support and education we receive from them. We left feeling refreshed, inspired and motivated.

Boho Braid

Boho braids are huge for summer. In the picture above Blake Lively shows us how to do it right. She sported this fun, textured braid on the red carpet for the premiere of Green Lantern. To create this look:

1} On wet hair apply Grooming Creme on the ends of your hair.

2} Follow by spraying Surf Spray all over hair.

3} Dry hair with a diffuser to get beach-wave texture.

4} Pin hair to the side. Fishtail braid part (or you could do all) of your hair and secure with a hair band.

5} Finish by spraying hair all over with Spray De Mode.

There is a way to achieve a beautiful, glowing tan this summer, without spending hours in the sun. Tanning beds and tanning oils are definitely old school, they pose a risk of skin cancer, sun spots, pigmentation problems and they accelerate skin aging (yikes!). Self tanners are the way to go. We know a lot of you are nervous about looking orange so we have a few tips!
1} Exfoliate! The most important step. Give your skin a good scrub with a body brush, exfoliating scrub or whatever your preference. Make sure you avoid shaving before or immediately after you apply self tanner. Once you're out of the shower get your body completely dry
2} Apply your self tanner. There are so many available from foam, lotions and sprays. We prefer one that slowly gives you color over time (like Jergens lotion) so it's less drastic and noticeable. When you're done applying make sure you wash your hands because there's nothing worse than orange palms and knuckles!
3} Once you have a nice, even layer all over your body grab some body lotion. Apply a layer of lotion on your wrists, ankles, elbows, the backs of your knees and underarms. This will help the creases from getting to dark and looking unnatural.
4} Wait AT LEAST 10 minutes before putting close on. Avoid anything too tight or constricting or they might rub the self tanner off. Follow the directions on how long to wait until showering.
5} Problems? If you have any wierd streaks, dark spots etc. you have a couple options. Use a scrub or a wet wash cloth and scrub the dark areas or some people swear by lemon juice.

MTV Movie Awards: HAIR

There were lots of lovely locks on the MTV Movie Awards Red Carpet. Here are some of our favorites....From Brunettes to Blondes Ombre hair color proved to still be a big trend for summer. It's more natural then last years drastic version (think Drew Barrymore), it's perfect for sunkissed highlights.

The redhead trend keeps growing, Emma Stone went back to her natural roots. Expect to see a lot of redheads this fall.

The blondes didn't disappoint, we are loving the look of blonde on blonde (subtle highlights). A lot of celebs kept their hair in natural waves. Gorgeous!

Summer Hair Solutions

It's Saturday, the sun is shining and the smell of Summer is in the air! Summer is all about quick and easy hair that still looks good. Here are a couple of our favorite Summer looks:
1} Spray Bumble and bumble Surf Spray all over wet hair right out of the shower. Let it air dry. It will give you fun, beachy waves. OR pull it up on your crown for a fun textured ponytail or twist it for a carefree bun.
2} Rub a dime size amount of Texture through wet hair, use a diffuser or let air dry. You'll have matte, textured hair in no time!
3} Hair feeling oily midday? Spray some Hair Powder on your oily spots for an instant fix. They also come in travel sizes so you can carry some around in your purse!
