The Pin-Up

We have been seeing this slicked back look all over the red carpet on celebrities and during Fashion Week in New York.
1. Rub Styling Creme on your roots and smooth the rest through your ends, smooth Bb. Straight Blow Dry through the ends of your hair.
2. Blow-dry hair with a flat brush.
3. Once dry backcomb the front section of your hair for lift.
4. Smooth the sides against your head with Spray de Mode.
5. Smooth the front section over the top and back with a flat brush and secure with a pin or two if needed.
6. Finish with another spritz of Spray de Mode.

The Deep Part

We love the retro feel of these waves pulled over one shoulder and winged eyeliner.
1. Spray Thickening Hairspray all over damp hair, smooth Bb. Straight Blow dry from the middle to the ends of your hair.
2. Create your side part and blow dry hair, smoothing it with a flat brush.
3. Pull the parted side around your head (for a bit of drama), then twist pieces with more Bb. Straight Blow Dry for lived-in separation.
4. Spritz hair all over with Does It All for light hold. Pin It

Salon K Model Project

The Salon K Model Project provides free styles and color in a professional, educational setting to anyone with appropriate hair for the classes we are having. We have an assisting program at the salon for all new hires and we hold classes multiple times a week that they need hair models to do blow drys on. We also are always looking for hair models for our in-salon color classes on people that are willing to explore new looks. Working on Hair Models instead of plastic dummies helps all our stylists to be the best stylists they can be.

If you are interested in being on our Hair Model List you can leave a comment, email us, facebook message us or call us directly and give us your Name and Phone Number and what you are interested in.

Hair Wizards Pick their Poison

Hair Powder is the ultimate hair thickener and volumizer," says Laurent Phillipon, the Paris-born stylist who's worked with everyone from Steven Klein to Ellen von Unwerth and on shows as varied as J.Mendel and Karen Walker. "It's a great tool to add grip to the hair for easy up-dos. Sometimes a model comes from another show with a lot of wax in their hair and I have to make it look natural again—Hair Powder makes it look clean." He also uses it on models with thin hair to pump up the volume.

"Thickening Hairspray is so useful because it is so versatile," says Jimmy Paul. The stylist, whose work you can often catch in Vogue, says, "Most styles that I do require some volume—even the sleeker styles need structure and hold—and Thickening Hairspray gives me all of the above."

Rolando Beauchamp may be Does it All's number-one fan. "The more you spray, the shinier and nicer hair gets," he says of the self-explanatory product. "It doesn't build up and I never want to lose the ability to brush the hair." The shiny blue can is in his hand from start to finish: "I can use it to set the hair, for touch-ups after styling, and right before the girls walk out for last-minute fixes without losing any shine."

"Prep makes hair more manageable," says Sabrina Michaels, Bumble's Director of Style Education. "Backstage it's helpful because if you start with Prep, it's easier to work other products into the hair—it breaks down hairspray and buildup on girls coming from other shows when there isn't time for a wash, but we need to start fresh." Michaels says it's also great for detangling messy hair when you wake up in the morning.

"I love Surf Spray because it's workable with changing looks throughout the day," says James Pecis, the young London-based stylist who's quickly become Vogue Paris' go-to hair stylist. "It adds the perfect tactile texture, but is especially useful backstage because it's fast to apply and fast to dry. It's the quickest, easiest way to add traction and texture to the hair."

Straight Short Hair Tutorial

To get a smooth look without stiffness and not too perfect follow this tutorial:
1. Start with clean, towel dried, hair. One of the biggest mistakes our client's make is putting product on really wet hair, the product gets diluted and you end up using more (and we have no complaints on extending our wallet!).
2. Spritz Prep all over, followed by a nickel to quarter-sized dollop (depends on your hair texture and length) of Straight Blow Dry. Work it from tip to root.
3. Using a paddle brush (you an use a round brush but it will create more of a perfect look instead of a undone feel.) pull sections down and away from the head with a slight bend so you get tension on the hair. Don't worry about perfection, you're going to mess it up afterwards, anyways.

4. Once your hair is straight and dry, spritz your hair with Thickening Hairspray. Work it haphazardly into the root to add texture back in, and finger-combing an irregular side part. Throw in a couple of bobby pins behind the ears, a shot of Does it All Styling Spray and voilĂ !

Kate Middleton Updo

We fell in love with this updo Kate the Duchess of Cambridge wore a few weeks ago. This would be beautiful for a wedding or a fancy night out. We know brides are always looking for something fun and different but still classic and this fits the bill! Ask your Salon K stylist how they can create something similar for you!

Fashion Week Inspiration

Backstage just isn't the same without this subtle styling spray.

Lifts, holds and makes hair listen to our editorial stylist's visions.

Sending sexy, windswept looks down the runway since 2001

Exceptional pliability and lasting memory make this a longtime love of the editorial set.

Helps break down styles in between shows (when there's no time to shampoo).

The new must-have for achieving smooth styles in a New York minute.

Curls and Twirls

Help your guy appreciate his curly locks and wear them with pride! Curly hair and products have come a long way so don't be afraid! Ok so if your guy is a zero-maintenance type who has no interest in wrangling his curls each morning he should probably just go with a buzz. Simple and easy but still handsome (think Brad Pitt circa Ocean's 12).

If he's willing to put a little into his hair use this picture of Orlando Bloom for inspiration. Ask your Hair Stylist to cut the sides short with scissors (scissors are key! clippers won't do curly hair any favors), leaving the top longer. Throw a little Grooming Creme in damp hair and you're good to go!

If he’s up for a styling commitment, keeping his locks longer with loose tousled curls always looks amazing! Think Russell Brand on a good day. Bb. Defining Creme will work magic on long locks, smoothing, getting rid of frizz and helping define his curls. Pin It

Port Eliot Festival

Bumble and bumble held a hair styling event at the Port Eliot Festival in England. Each time Bumble does these amazing events we fall in love with them even more!

They created these pastel hair powders for hair stylist Stephen Jones special for the event (fingers crossed that they come out with these permanently!). The hair styles were all about fun, whimsical styles with pops of color from the hair powder. We love what they came up with!
