OPI Burlesque

OPI has outdone themselves with their newest Burlesque collection. My sisters and I were at the beauty supply store earlier this week and we were all instantly drawn to the Burlesque display. We love ourselves some glitter so we instantly fell in love and had to buy one of each of the sparkly shades.
I currently have "Bring on the Bling" on my nails. It's an eye catching sparkly gold, a great substitute for glitter toes/nails without all the damage and hassle. I definitely see myself wearing this through the holiday season. Hm maybe I should buy another.

My other personal favorite in this collection is "Sparkle-icious". It's a multi-colored glitter-iciousness! If you didn't get your hands on OPI's Alice in Wonderland Mad Hatter polish, this is the perfect substitute! But as all things go, good things never last so scoop up your favorites while you still can!

Rainy Day Hair

In honor of todays weather I have decided to share some hair ideas for rainy days. Unless you're planning on staying inside all day, up is your best option, then you dont have to worry about limp locks. Nicole Richie shows that you can pull your hair up but still stay trendy and elegant. Part your hair down the middle and braid two braids on each side of your head. Secure with bobby pins. Twist into a low bun and bobby pin in place. Voila!

If braids are too tricky for you, copy Olivia Palermo and part your hair down the middle and sweep into a neck-grazing bun. Effortless and chic!

The easiest and most fool-proof rainy day hair is a slicked back pony tail. Keep it high gloss with some Bumble and bumble Defrizz serum or Bb. Shine Spray. Keep it super simple with a hair band that matches your hair color. Angelina is a perfect example.

Lauren Conrad added a little volume and pulled out a few little pieces around her face.

If a high ponytail is too much for you try pulling it down at your nape. Wrap a little bit of your hair around the ponytail, hairspray and secure with a bobby pin.

Another fun and flirty option is to braid your ponytail like Kourtney Kardashian.

It's pictures like these that make me want to chop off my hair and cut bangs. I'm lusting after her curly locks!

recipe: spray hair all over with Prep.
Dispense a bit of Holding Foam in palms to activate, work through hair, beginning at nape, moving forward. Twirl, cup and squeeze curls into shape while diffusing.
Finish with Defining Creme on select pieces, shaping as you apply.

Basic body-builders know the drill: Thickening Hairspray at roots, add heat, get lift. But here's a pros-only, whispered-'round-the-salon secret for the very fine:
Layer Surf Spray (yes Surf Spray) UNDER Thickening Hairspray, and blow-dry. The salt content creates excellent grip for brush control on fine, silky hair for a fabulously full finish.

surf spray
Sexy, salty, sun-dried, windswept styles- whenever, wherever.

Thickening Hairspray
Helps fine hair achieve styling lift-off, but also works wonders on any hair type - thick, thin or otherwise. Pin It

Super Star Travis Speck Shares his Fashion Week Secrets

Sure, the clothes are always the main attraction at the shows during Fashion Week, but the hair and makeup come in a very close second. It's no secret that designers rely on a team of hairstylists to help them with the all-important task of translating their visions and inspirations into a dramatic 'do. However, very few people probably know how much time and energy goes into the process. Travis Speck, one of Bumble and bumble's editorial stylists, leads several shows during Fashion Week each season. He gave PAPERMAG the rundown on his creative process, his favorite shows to style, and he even shares his most harrowing hair-related horror story.
About how long are your days during Fashion Week?
Usually at least 12 hours!

How long in advance do you create the hairstyles for each runway show?
Anywhere from one week to one day before.

On average, how many shows do you style over the course of Fashion Week? Name a few of your favorites.
I lead a few shows every season and assist on between fifteen and twenty shows total in New York and Paris. My favorites have been Vivienne Westwood, Martin Margiela and Shipley & Halmos (which I was lead stylist on).

How large is your backstage team of stylists?
On each show, there are between five and ten stylists, but Bumble and bumble has an army of about 50 stylists that work during Fashion Week.

Which hair style is the most time consuming?
Applying extensions is very time consuming!

Tell us about your most troublesome hair creation for a fashion show. Are there certain styles that are more difficult than others?
Usually the most complicated styles are the ones that look the simplest. There's less room to hide an error in a basic style -- every little bit counts.
Do you have any backstage hair-related horror stories to share?
I was working on a show in Paris and some of the models began showing up with glitter in their hair! We had to shampoo them all and there was only one sink with freezing cold water.

What products/tools will you never be caught without during a show?
Curling Irons, a Blow Dryer, Bumble and bumble Spray de Mode

What's the thing you look forward to most once Fashion Week is over?
A mani-pedi at Rehoboth Spa with my favorite lady, Mya.

Michelle Williams+Ryan Gosling = Perfection

W Magazine covers always catch my eye (perhaps because it's twice the size of the other magazines). This month was no exception. I can't help but lust after Michelle Williams long platinum locks, dark brows and red lips. TO DIE! Adding Ryan Gosling to the picture is just the cherry on top. Guys: take notes on Ryan's versatile cut. Throw in some tonic and sumotech to make it messy and textured or comb it to the side to get your "Mad Men look" on.
