Asphalt Work

In continuing to improve The Village at Riverwoods Community on Wednesday May 29 the South section of Edgewood Drive (the street right in front of the salon) will be closed and on Thursday May 30 the North section of Edgewood Drive will be closed to seal coat the road.

 Basically this means the road right in front of the salon will be closed next Tuesday and Wednesday so the best place to park will be south of the salon over by Color Me Mine to get to us. We apologize in advance for the inconvenience!

1. On damp hair smooth Bb. Curl Defining Creme and Bb. Texture throughout and let air dry (or a diffuser if you're in a hurry!).

Bridal Event This Weekend!

We are at the Riverwoods outdoor Bridal Event this weekend (today and tomorrow 11am-8pm)! My Little Pony

With prom and wedding season upon us every bride and high school teen are all asking for some updo inspiration. Take a cue from Kate Beckinsale and her youthful pony. It's the perfect style for any age- youthful and flirty for young girls and regal and feminine for mature women. As always, updos work best on dirty hair (it will hold better) but this can also be done on clean hair.

1. On dry hair smooth Bb. Hairdressers Invisible Oil on ends to condition the cuticle and prevent breakage. Spray roots with Bb. Hair Powder for volume and to soak up hair oils.
2. Curl hair with a 2 inch curling iron.
3. Back comb the top section of your hair and spray with Bb. Spray de Mode Hairspray for hold.
4. Gather all hair into a high ponytail and secure with a hair tie. Pin It

Fresh from the Beach

Sadly we live far from the ocean, but that doesn't mean you can't create the perfect beach waves in your very own bathroom! All you need is a curling iron and some Bb. Surf Spray to create these easy, laid-back waves.

1. On dry hair spray Does it All hairspray from roots to ends for heat protection.
2. Gather a 1 to 2-inch section of hair. Near the base, make a half turn with your iron and let sit for a few seconds before slowly releasing the curl.
3. With the same section of hair, make another half turn with your iron facing the opposite direction. Hold for a few seconds and gently release.
4. Spritz Bb. Surf Spray throughout hair to break up the curls and give the hair more texture.
The resulting look is a cross between a finger wave and a curling iron set but requires half the effort! Pin It

Met Gala 2013

Oh how we love The Metropolitan Museum's annual Costume Institute Gala! It is hands down the most glamorous, fashion forward, star-studded event of the year! It doesn't get bigger or more amazing then this and Monday nights fete was full of over-the-top moments we love!

SJP there are no words! Amazing.

There was a lot of sleek do's.

Mary Kate and Ashley are always boho-chic, wavy hair perfection. 

We are suckers for retro, sideswept waves (a la Miranda Kerr) and braids always make us swoon (thank you Minka!)

Ellen Pompeo Straight Up

Ellen Pompeo ditched her Grey's Anatomy scrubs in favor of a sleek sophisticated 'do. 

1. On damp hair spray Bb. Prep all over, Bb. Thickening Hairspray on your roots and smooth a dime sized amount of Bb. UV Protective Styling Balm through your ends.
2. Roughly dry hair using your hand then create a low side parting.
3. Section hair and blow dry hair perfectly straight using a boar bristle flat brush and using tension to smooth the hair.
4. Blow dry the hair front of the hair forward and sweep down low over the forehead.
5. Spray ends with Bb. Surf Spray for a natural tousled effect. Smooth with a flat iron if needed.

Good as Gold

At the Golden Globes, we were pleased as punch to see several celebrities donning ‘dos that hinted at a bygone era, showing off polished and pristine retro-inspired hair. One of our favorites was Naomi Watts' side-swept faux bob.

1. Spray Bb. Prep all over damp hair and spritz Bb. Thickening Hairspray from roots to ends.
2. Using a medium round brush, blow-dry hair in sections then create a deep side part.
3. Curl hair with a curling iron, spraying Bb. Does it All hairspray on each section before curling for heat protection and a light hold.
4. Brush through hair gently with a boar bristle brush to smooth the waves.
5. Apply a pea-size amount of Bb. Color Minded UV Protective Polish to hand and gently run over hair to tame flyaways and add shine.
6. Tie a rubber band halfway down the hair and fold hair up and under to create the faux bob.
8. Pin hair in place at the nape then shape the waves around the face. Spritz with Spray de Mode hairspray.
