Strong Hold Tutorial

1. Spray Thickening Hairspray all over damp hair then hand-dry (or blow dry to speed up the process).
2. When hair is almost dry, use a brush or comb to smooth and shape the style.
3. Heat up the sumowax by removing the lid and holding a hair dryer to the mouth of the jar (this is a must).
4. Use your fingers to comb the product through for an even application. Pin It

Strong Flexibility Tutorial

This is by far one of our favorite looks on men right now; matte, messy and disheveled. Of course Sumotech is the star in this style.
1. Apply sumotech on slightly damp or dry hair.
2. Muss some pieces on top and smooth down the sides (toward the face).
3. Detail pieces in the front with more sumotech for a perfectly disheveled look. Pin It

Strong Shine Tutorial

1. Spray Prep all over damp hair then hand-dry (or blow dry if you have one) hair.
2. Shape and part your hair to your liking while hand-drying (or blow drying) (helps in giving volume).

Polished Up Tutorial

1. Apply semisumo to dry hair for shine and separation.
2. Spray hair powder all over hair to help build body.
3. Backcomb top sections of hair and spray with Spray de Mode.
4. Roll and pin hair back into a loose twist and pull top pieces out for more volume.
5. Finish the look by detailing it with a little more semisumo. Pin It

Edgy Elegance Tutorial

1. On dry hair, section out the front of the hair and smooth the rest of the hair back into a topknot.
2. Pin the loop of the topknot to the crown of the head.
3. Work a small amount of semisumo into the front section and sides.
4. Flip the top section back and let it fall naturally for a cool, casual style that's not too done. Pin It

Lived-In Perfection Tutorial

1. Spray damp hair with Thickening Hairspray. Blow-dry hair with a flat brush.
2. For a softer look, blow-dry the ends inward to create bend.
3. Once dry apply semisumo throughout to define layers, and for a high shine, frizz-free finish. Pin It

Sumo Family

The sumo family began with the curiosity of a Parisian Editorial Stylist in Japan. During a trip to Tokyo, Laurent Philippon was invited to a sumo wrestling match, where he became enthralled with the way sumo wrestlers wore their hair. He and his fluent traveling companion were invited "backstage" after the match to meet the man who melted a waxy compound in an iron cauldron before applying, cooling and setting the glossy black helmets of hair. Inspired by this smelly stuff, Laurent returned with a mission. Sumowax was the hard-holding result, and the flexible Sumotech soon followed as its modern offspring.
