Met Gala Sleek

We LOVE the Met Gala for the more daring fashion choices and hairstyles then the average red carpet. We saw a lot of sleek do's on the carpet which is perfect for summer. These styles prove you can still look good straight out of the pool, on a bad hair day or when your hair is dirty.
Grab some Bb. Gel and smooth you hair back to tame flyaways and hold unruly pieces (and to create some high shine). Pull it high into a topknot like Kate Bosworth or smooth it at the nape of your neck like Rooney Mara.

Create a deep side part like Gisele Bundchen or part straight down the middle like Gwyneth Paltrow and smooth hair to the nape of your neck and secure with a hair tie. Wrap in a bun and secure with pins. Rub a dime sized amount Bb. Styling Wax through your finger tips and smooth over the top of your hair to smooth flyaways, create shine and light hold. Super easy and you look instantly pulled together!

hair how-to: classic bun

When it's too hot outside to even look at a blow drier we love being able to throw our hair up but still look chic and pulled together. We loved this high bun on Cassie Scerbo at the Teen Choice Awards. This style will add a few inches to your frame and will show off your face perfectly.

1} We've said it before but when you are pulling your hair up it's better to do it on dirty hair. It will hold better and last longer. If you're starting on dirty hair skip to step #2. If you're starting on clean hair spray Thickening Hairspray all over then blow dry hair completely.
2} Pull hair into a high ponytail (on your crown) and secure with a hairband. Rat your ponytail then twist the hair around itself to form a bun shape. Secure it with bobby pins.
3} Use your hands to smooth the hair into place and finish with Classic Hairspray. A great option for when you're in a hurry or need a cute looking 'do on the fly!

Thickening Trio

Don't you hate it when you buy a full size hair product and you end up not liking it? You don't want to throw it away so you throw it under your sink and let it collect dust. Bumble and bumble gives us yet ANOTHER reason to love them by providing 2oz sizes of their products. It's a great way to try a product out without spending a lot of money. We love this Thickening trio with Thickening Shampoo, Thickening Conditioner and Thickening Hairspray (a best selling family) and the stylish reusable travel bag they come in!

Teen Choice Awards 2011

Last weekend were the Teen Choice Awards. We loved seeing all the celebrities no fuss ponytails and beachy waves. The Kardashian's always look lovely. Khloe's long, wavy, lightened locks look glamorous and summery. Kim and Kourtney's sleek bun and ponytail are a great option for summer, they look pulled together without all the fuss (especially on these hot summer days when the last thing you want to do is touch a blow drier!). Kylie's wavy, dark strands are cute and fun, but we hate Kendall's wierd pulled back braid.

We love that Emma Stone went back to her red hair color, her pulled back beachy waves are fun.

Wavy hair was a big trend of the evening. It's fun to see how versatile they are, for example, Ashley Benson kept her waves more soft and casual with a beach vibe while Lucy Hale chose more polished and sleek. Click here for a hair how-to to get waves similar to Lucy Hale's.

Rachel Bilson looked cute and summery (yes MORE wavy hair! Time to stock up on Surf Spray!). Click here, here, or here for some wavy hair how-to's.

Last but not least we love Zoe Saldana's shiny, shorter strands.

hair how-to: Deconstruced Updo

We instantly fell in love when we saw Taylor Swift's Deconstructed Updo. By following these easy steps you’ll be able to create totally modern, slightly deconstructed updo in less than 15 minutes that will last.
1} Pulling hair up always works best on dirty or second day hair. If you're working on dirty hair skip to step #4.
2} On clean hair work Styling Creme through roots of hair and spray Thickening Hairspray all over hair.
3} Use a Round Brush and start drying hair in sections. When you pull the brush out of each section of hair, spin the brush as you pull away from the head to create a spiral formation.
4} After hair is completely dry, spray the entire head with Spray de Mode hairspray. Taking a curling iron wrap large sections of hair around the barrel moving away from the head. Keep sections flat so they look like ribbons around the rod. Repeat this process throughout the entire head.
5} Spray the sections again with Spray de Mode. Run fingers through hair to create a loose, tousled effect.
6} Pull all the hair back loosely and gather at the nape. Using bobby pins secure the hair at the nape. Layer the curls on top of one another, pin and repeat.
7} Finish with Spray de Mode Hairspray.

Bangs Bangs Bangs

If you're looking for a way to spice up your cut without chopping a bunch of length off, bangs are the way to do that! They're also a great solution for high foreheads and enhancing your eyes. The lowest commitment on the bang totem pole are side-swept fringe, they're the easiest to grow out and are generally the most flattering. Blunt, heavy bangs are fun and look great but keep in mind they're more maintenance and more difficult to grow out. Once you're ready to grow out your blunt bangs, talk to your stylist and they should be able to make the process easier by taking the corner off one side and turn them in to flattering, side-swept bangs. Boho Braid

Boho braids are huge for summer. In the picture above Blake Lively shows us how to do it right. She sported this fun, textured braid on the red carpet for the premiere of Green Lantern. To create this look:

1} On wet hair apply Grooming Creme on the ends of your hair.

2} Follow by spraying Surf Spray all over hair.

3} Dry hair with a diffuser to get beach-wave texture.

4} Pin hair to the side. Fishtail braid part (or you could do all) of your hair and secure with a hair band.

5} Finish by spraying hair all over with Spray De Mode.

Summer style, unplugged

Simple, tousle-and-go styles
Forgo the blow dryer this summer and give your natural texture a chance with three products that ease and enhance. (Lucky for us, undone is in!)
Bb. Texture Creme
Gives even the straightest of hair some texture. Work through damp hair then ruffle, freehand for lift, volume grit and grip.
Surf Spray
Spray on damp (or dry) hair and let dry naturally for beachy matte, texture.
Grooming Creme
Apply to damp hair and tousle for subtle hold and a soft, smooth, low-glow satin finish. Not to mention it's hydrating, great for thirsty summer locks. Pin It

Loving Right Now

We have had an obsession with fishtail braids lately. It's a fun change from the trusty ponytail, wear it straight down your back, on the side or half up. Pull out little pieces to make it more fun and messy or keep it tight and neat for a more polished look. Give it a try this weekend!

Met Gala 2011: HAIR

The Met Costume Gala brought out Hollywood's hottest celebs with the most amazing dresses and HAIR! Here are a few of our favorite 'do's of the night. Starting with Blake Lively (who never seems to disappoint) who's blonde locks are perfectly smooth with the right amount of bend and curl.

Gwyneth also kept her hair down but went a little more beachy. We love showing off our natural texture, especially come summer time.

Keeping hair down seemed to be a big trend of the evening. Michelle Monaghan updated her look with blunt bangs, her dark hair looks gorgeous against that highlighter pink dress!

We LOVED Ginnifer Goodwin's pixie cut!

Dianna Agron kept it chic and simple with a beautiful pulled back pony. This is a great look for after the pool this summer.

Lovely Braids

What's better then throwing your hair up in a loose beautiful braid? So simple, yet still looks pulled together. Braids are predicted to be big for fall but can't you imagine how cute they'll look with spring colored tops and summer dresses?
