The Third Day Updo
THE THIRD DAY UPDO
Let's be honest, some days we just don't want to take the time to wash and style our hair (sometimes more, or longer than we care to admit!). Bb. Prêt-à-powder is the perfect product for those kind of days!
1. Add Prêt-à-powder at roots for grip and grit. Tousle with fingers to shake out excess.
2. Gather hair into a ponytail.
3. Hold with one hand while you pinch and lift the front section until you have desired height, using Spray de Mode to hold.
4. Secure with a bungee, then pin up the length of the ponytail into a chignon. Use fingers to release some tension, pulling top forward.

Jenny From the Block
We love the look that was created for Jennifer Lopez on the cover of W Magazine! Bold and sexy! It's definitely classic movie style hair with a modern twist. We also love her rich, darker hair color, it's perfect for fall!
1. Apply Bb. Prep then Bb. Thickening full form mousse to damp hair and blow-dry with a round brush. Or, use Velcro rollers to achieve similar volume and movement.2. Use a curling iron and create a classic set. Let hair cool, then gently brush through the curls.
3. If hair is naturally frizzy, use a small amount of Bb. UV Protective Polish to smooth strands.
4. Spray hair with Bb. Spray de Mode Hairspray to finish the look. Pin It

Pony Up
Who doesn’t love a ponytail? Whether you're working out at the gym or adding a little va-va-voom to a sexy evening look the simple, low maintenance look of the ponytail is the perfect go-to for any face shape! This ponytail was inspired by ‘60s actress Jane Birkin. We prefer to do this on second day hair (it stays better) but you can also do this on clean hair.
1. If you're doing this on clean hair: spray Bb. Prep all over damp hair, apply a golf ball sized amount Bb. Thickening Full Form Mousse on your roots and blow dry for lift and volume. On dirty hair: spray Bb. Hair Powder all over for volume and to soak up oils.
2. Divide the head in half (front and back).
3. Create a deep side part and secure with a pin in front of the ear.
4. Backcomb your hair at the crown and hairspray with Bb. Spray de Mode hairspray.
5. Gather all hair into a low ponytail and secure with an elastic. Wrap a small piece of hair around the elastic.
6. Pull out small, random wisps of hair at the sides for a playful, undone effect. Finish with more Bb. Spray de Mode hairspray for hold. Pin It

Swinging Sixties
Have you fallen into a styling rut? Do you find yourself slicking your hair back in the same old top knot every morning? Try this super easy modern take on vintage hair like Alexa Chung's. It reminds us of rock ‘n’ roll meets Brigitte Bardot. As always, we recommend doing this on dirty/second -day hair, it will hold better and last longer.
1. On dry hair spray Bb. Hair Powder all over hair to soak up oils and give hair more grit and grip.
2. Backcomb hair at the crown and spray with Bb. Does it All Hairspray for a light, workable hold.
3. Loosely pull the hair back into a ponytail leaving the face-framing fringe flowing in front, and secure with bobby pins.
5. Spritz Bb. Spray de Mode hairspray for lasting hold. Pin It

Modern Veronica Lake
Catch the Wave
She played an unhappy 1920's housewife in The Great Gatsby but on the red carpet Isla Fisher channeled the ’40s with her Veronica Lake-inspired waves. We can't help but always swoon over glamorous, over-the-shoulder waves! 1. On damp hair spray Bb. Prep and apply a golf ball size amount of Bb. Thickening Full Form Mousse on your roots.
2. Blow-dry using a large round brush.
3. Once dry, create a low side part and section the hair into manageable pieces. Starting at the front and working backwards, wrap sections of hair around a medium-sized curling iron and secure with clips.
4. Spray the pinned hair lightly with Bb. Spray de Mode Hairspray and allow to cool.
5. Release the curled sections and smooth through with your hands to loosen. Use a large, soft brush and gently brush through the curls to create smooth, soft waves. Finish with Bb. Color Minded UV Protective Polish for shine and to get rid of flyaways, and a spritz of Bb. Spray de Mode Hairspray for hold. Pin It

Pixie Texture
Feminine pixies have been all the rage in Hollywood and we are starting to see the trend trickle into the salo. We are loving the femininity and softness that we are seeing and have been creating on our clients. We love this textured look that was at Rachel Comey's NYC Fall Fashion Week show, it is exactly what we’re talking about! To create this piece-y texture:
1. On damp hair spray Bb. Prep all over and smooth Bb. Thickening Full Form Mousse through hair.
2. Blow dry using your fingers to create movement and enhance natural texture.
3. Once hair is dry work Bb. Sumotech through hair, moving hair into place. Finish with Bb. Spray de Mode Hairspray for hold. Pin It

With prom and wedding season upon us every bride and high school teen are all asking for some updo inspiration. Take a cue from Kate Beckinsale and her youthful pony. It's the perfect style for any age- youthful and flirty for young girls and regal and feminine for mature women. As always, updos work best on dirty hair (it will hold better) but this can also be done on clean hair.

3. Back comb the top section of your hair and spray with Bb. Spray de Mode Hairspray for hold.
4. Gather all hair into a high ponytail and secure with a hair tie. Pin It

Good as Gold
At the Golden Globes, we were pleased as punch to see several celebrities donning ‘dos that hinted at a bygone era, showing off polished and pristine retro-inspired hair. One of our favorites was Naomi Watts' side-swept faux bob.
1. Spray Bb. Prep all over damp hair and spritz Bb. Thickening Hairspray from roots to ends.2. Using a medium round brush, blow-dry hair in sections then create a deep side part.
3. Curl hair with a curling iron, spraying Bb. Does it All hairspray on each section before curling for heat protection and a light hold.
4. Brush through hair gently with a boar bristle brush to smooth the waves.
5. Apply a pea-size amount of Bb. Color Minded UV Protective Polish to hand and gently run over hair to tame flyaways and add shine.
6. Tie a rubber band halfway down the hair and fold hair up and under to create the faux bob.
8. Pin hair in place at the nape then shape the waves around the face. Spritz with Spray de Mode hairspray.

Jessica Chastain Tutorial
When Jessica Chastain walked down the red carpet with her romantic strawberry curls, she instantly reminded us of Jessica Rabbit. Her hair was so pretty and soft and her hair color is right on trend for spring- a gently muted copper. Here's how to get her style:

Amy Adams Chignon Tutorial
We saw a lot retro 50's chignons and french twists on the red carpet, one of our favorites was Amy Adams. She wore it beautifully with a touch of 1950's glamour but it still looked modern and classic. The great thing about this style is it doesn't need to be too stiff or perfect, which means it's going to work best on dirty/second-day hair.
1. On second-day hair spray Bb. Hair Powder through hair to soak up oils, give the hair grip and a matte texture.2. Backcomb your hair at the roots, especially at the crown. Spray with Spray de Mode Hairspray.
3. Part hair in the middle (or wherever you prefer) and smooth the crown back.
4. Smooth the hair back to the nape and secure with a ponytail. Backcomb the ponytail and spritz with more Spray de Mode Hairspray.
5. Roll the hair into a messy chignon (letting some of the backcombing show) and pin in place with bobbies. Tuck the tail under and secure with more bobbies.
6. Pull a few pieces out around the face and finish with Spray de Mode Hairspray.
