The Third Day Updo

THE THIRD DAY UPDO
Let's be honest, some days we just don't want to take the time to wash and style our hair (sometimes more, or longer than we care to admit!). Bb. Prêt-à-powder is the perfect product for those kind of days!
1. Add Prêt-à-powder at roots for grip and grit. Tousle with fingers to shake out excess.
2. Gather hair into a ponytail.
3. Hold with one hand while you pinch and lift the front section until you have desired height, using Spray de Mode to hold.
4. Secure with a bungee, then pin up the length of the ponytail into a chignon. Use fingers to release some tension, pulling top forward.

Pretty Bird Updo

Did you know as stylists we are always keeping our eye on runway trends? We make wearable styles from what we see and are inspired by on the runway and high fashion! During New York Fashion Week, Bumble and bumble Editorial Stylist Jimmy Paul created this “bird’s nest” style for Thom Browne’s Fall/Winter 2013 collection. Using Bb. Thickening Hairspray and Bb. Surf Spray together creates a raw texture, something that’s left unfinished and rough. These products leave the hair very easy to work with and mold. This style can begin on wet or dry hair, we recommend dry and dirty hair for better texture and hold.
1. On damp or dry hair spray Bb. Thickening Hairspray and Bb. Surf Spray to give hair texture.
2. Rough blow-dry (blow dry hair roughly with your hands).
3. Tease (backcomb) hair in sections to create volume.
4. Leaving the top section out, French twist the bottom section of the hair up toward the crown. Pin as you go.
4. Tease the top section as big as possible. Secure with pins.
5. Finish with Bb. Does It All Hairspray for hold. Pin It

Cannes Film Festival 2013

Every year, the fashion stakes get higher at the annual Cannes Film Festival in the south of France. After all, it’s where some of the world’s biggest movie stars and tastemakers flock to attend movie screenings and soirees, all the while dressed in incredibly glamorous ensembles and amazing hair to boot!

Alessandra Ambrosio kept things sleek and simple with a center part and straight locks to compliment her dress.

We love Olivia Palermo's loosely pulled back updo.

You know we are suckers for over the shoulder, retro waves like Cara Delevingne's!

Whether you like it or not, ombre hair is still alive and well! Sara Forestier's is subtle and perfect for summer.

We swoon over Naomi Watts short, retro waves!

The retro theme continues with Marion Cotillard's voluminous, french twist.

And nothing says summer like Isla Fisher's relaxed, beachy waves!

Swinging Sixties

Have you fallen into a styling rut? Do you find yourself slicking your hair back in the same old top knot every morning? Try this super easy modern take on vintage hair like Alexa Chung's. It reminds us of rock ‘n’ roll meets Brigitte Bardot. As always, we recommend doing this on dirty/second -day hair, it will hold better and last longer.
1. On dry hair spray Bb. Hair Powder all over hair to soak up oils and give hair more grit and grip.
2. Backcomb hair at the crown and spray with Bb. Does it All Hairspray for a light, workable hold.
3. Loosely pull the hair back into a ponytail leaving the face-framing fringe flowing in front, and secure with bobby pins.
5. Spritz Bb. Spray de Mode hairspray for lasting hold. Pin It

My Little Pony

With prom and wedding season upon us every bride and high school teen are all asking for some updo inspiration. Take a cue from Kate Beckinsale and her youthful pony. It's the perfect style for any age- youthful and flirty for young girls and regal and feminine for mature women. As always, updos work best on dirty hair (it will hold better) but this can also be done on clean hair.
1. On dry hair smooth Bb. Hairdressers Invisible Oil on ends to condition the cuticle and prevent breakage. Spray roots with Bb. Hair Powder for volume and to soak up hair oils.
2. Curl hair with a 2 inch curling iron.
3. Back comb the top section of your hair and spray with Bb. Spray de Mode Hairspray for hold.
4. Gather all hair into a high ponytail and secure with a hair tie. Pin It

jennifer lawrence beach

It's a huge trend in special occasion hair right now to use your natural texture, and this upsweep on Jennifer Lawrence does just that! We can also see ourselves turning this into a summer hair staple. This style is going to be easiest if you already have a natural wave in your hair, but don't worry you can always fake it too!
1. On damp hair spray Bb. Prep all over hair, smooth Bb. Hairdressers Oil through your ends and spritz some Bb. Surf Spray throughout your hair for added texture.
2. Dry hair with a diffuser (or let air dry) to encourage natural texture. If you don't have natural waves create curls with a curling iron.
3. Once hair is dry, loosely gather your hair at the nape of your neck and secure with a hairband. Twist into a loose messy bun.
4. Pull at hair to loosen and allow random pieces of hair around the hairline to fall free to create softness.

Amy Adams Chignon Tutorial

We saw a lot retro 50's chignons and french twists on the red carpet, one of our favorites was Amy Adams. She wore it beautifully with a touch of 1950's glamour but it still looked modern and classic. The great thing about this style is it doesn't need to be too stiff or perfect, which means it's going to work best on dirty/second-day hair.
1. On second-day hair spray Bb. Hair Powder through hair to soak up oils, give the hair grip and a matte texture.
2. Backcomb your hair at the roots, especially at the crown. Spray with Spray de Mode Hairspray.
3. Part hair in the middle (or wherever you prefer) and smooth the crown back.
4. Smooth the hair back to the nape and secure with a ponytail. Backcomb the ponytail and spritz with more Spray de Mode Hairspray.
5. Roll the hair into a messy chignon (letting some of the backcombing show) and pin in place with bobbies. Tuck the tail under and secure with more bobbies.
6. Pull a few pieces out around the face and finish with Spray de Mode Hairspray.

Jennifer Lawrence {Oscars Tutorial}

The Oscars were on Sunday, which means we have a bunch of hair tutorials to share with you straight from the red carpet! We loved the simplicity of Jennifer's hair in the front but the romance that was created in the back. We feel like we can't say this enough, updo's work best on dirty/second-day hair. Your hair will shape and hold better then freshly washed hair.
1. On dirty hair spray Bb. Hair Powder to soak up hair oils and give the hair more grip.
2. Leaving the hair on the sides of your face (above your ears) out, pull the rest of your hair back loosely with your fingers and secure at the nape of the neck with a hair tie.
3. Twist the ponytail into a loose bun and secure with bobbies.
4. Divide the hair above your right ear into two pieces, loosely twist the hair back and secure with bobbies, tucking the tail under. Repeat this step with the other section and do the same thing on the left side.
5. Rub a small amount of Semisumo into your palms and lightly smooth over hair to get rid of frizz and flyaways, spray with Spray de Mode Hairspray for hold. Pin It

Pony Up

We love Claire Danes and her easy-going, effortless style. Her look at the SAG Awards didn't disappoint. Her low ponytail perfectly complemented her one shoulder gown. We love this ponytail because it's casual but depending on what you wear you can also dress it up!
1. As always with an up-style we recommend doing it on second-day/dirty hair, it holds better.
2. Spray hair with Bb. Hair Powder to soak up hair oils and give the hair volume and grip. Smooth Hairdressers Oil through your ends to smooth the hair.
3. Lightly test the hair at the crown. Gather your hair at the nape of your neck, letting a few pieces fall out in the front. Secure the hair with a tie.
4. Pull at the pieces around the ears to keep the look ethereal and not overdone.
5. Wrap a small piece of hair from under the ponytail around the hair tie and secure underneath with a bobby pin.
6. Finish with Spray de mode hairspray for a soft hold.

Emily Blunt {Golden Globes}

Emily Blunt proves that topknots can be just as much dressy as they are casual, it just depends on the placement of the bun.

2. Smooth hair to the crown of your head and secure with a hair tie.
3. Lightly backcomb ponytail to create a fullness. Twist hair into a loose bun and pin.

Get Next Season's Hair Now

And now, for the third installment we bring you straight, minimalist, sleek hair with just the right amount of messed up look. This smooth updo was seen all over New York Fashion Week a couple weeks ago which you put you ahead of the game with the fashion scene. In this hairvolution you can see that you can create multiple looks over several days with one blowout.

1. Start with a straight blow dry, which we showed you here
2. With a fine toothed comb create a straight side part. Using a paddle brush smooth all the hair behind the ears toward the nape.
3. Secure with a bungee or hairband. Wrap the hair around the ponytail to create a bun but leave a few little pieces out to keep it from looking too done.
4. Rake your fingers over random sections with a dab of Bb. Texture to make it a little more messy and undone.
5. Polish it up with Shine on Finishing Spray.

We fell in love with this updo Kate the Duchess of Cambridge wore a few weeks ago. This would be beautiful for a wedding or a fancy night out.
