We saw Water for Elephants a few weeks ago but we still can't stop thinking about the hair and costumes! Reese embraces the classic Hollywood beauty of the 30’s as a circus performer, her finger waves and pin curls were so well done and she looked absolutely beautiful!
The easy way to get Reese's waves is with a 3-barrel/Marcel curling iron, it will give you the general look of her hair but it will be a more perfect wave. If you're looking to get her exact look you're going to need to go old school! If you google "finger wave tutorial" you will get a lot of videos or step by step picture tutorials of how to use your fingers and some product to get her look.We also loved the men's hair. Super short on the sides and longer on top. Robert Pattinson kept it messy while working during the day, sleek and shellacked to the side during the night. We are all loving an updated version (George Clooney pulls of this look well) of this look on our male clients. So classic and handsome!

Loving Right Now
We have had an obsession with fishtail braids lately. It's a fun change from the trusty ponytail, wear it straight down your back, on the side or half up. Pull out little pieces to make it more fun and messy or keep it tight and neat for a more polished look. Give it a try this weekend!

Spray Tanning now Available!
We are offering AIRBRUSH SUNLESS TANNING again for summer! We are loving ourselves some spray tan; it's safe, doesn't damage your skin and leaves us with a beautiful glow (no fake orange color to be found). This is a custom designed sunless tanning solution that produces an express, quick-drying, natural, long-lasting, "just off the beach tan". Radiant bronzed skin is only one spray away! The solution is full of vitamins and antioxidants which helps boost that healthy golden glow. Expect 5-7 days of color, with proper maintenance the color can extend even longer. Color fades smooth and even so you won't have any patchy spots. This is our brave esthetician Weslie showing a before and after (she's going to kill us for posting this) but we want you to see the beautiful color you can get with this tanning solution. It's $25 a time or bring a friend and get them for $20 each! Call for an appointment today!

OPI Muppets Collection
Seeing how this line doesn't launch until the Holidays (November/December), we are jumping the gun big time on announcing this collection but we are so excited we couldn't help ourselves! We grew up with the Muppets so we were giddy when we heard about this collaboration. Since this line is a long time out all we have is pictures but we will keep you updated when we hear more. Like a magpie our eyes immediately were attracted to the glitter collection. Ooh la la!

Billboard Music Awards 2011
To be honest we only had a couple of hair favorites from the Billboard Music Awards this year. Selena Gomez wowed us with her long straight locks. Simple, chic and gorgeous!
We loved Taylor Swift's retro waves. She always looks glam but with the red lipstick and sparkly dress she's looking very old hollywood. Love.
Do we dare admit we loved Rihanna's red locks?! She pulls off the bright red amazingly well, the length and style also look lovely on her (makes us want to chop our locks). Keeping her outfit simple and white really makes her hair the center of attention.

hair how-to: vintage hair
We just discovered Lauren Conrad's new beauty website the beautydepartment.com. It's full of tutorials, videos and our favorite, how to copy Lauren's looks! She recently posted a photo tutorial of how to get her 1940's waves and it was too good to not share!
1} Part your hair on the side. Either side will do.
2} Using a 1 inch barrell curling iron (we like hot tools) curl all your hair inward toward your face.
3} Clip the curls in place with large setting clips.
4} Lightly mist Spray de Mode hairspray all over hair. Let your hair cool and set (about 15 minutes).
5} Gently pull the clips out and let your hair fall.
6} Using Bumble and bumble's flat brush, lightly brush hair back and away from your face and then let it spring back. The wave pattern will automatically start to appear. Keep brushing gently until it shows up. We like to help it along by molding the waves where you want them by hand.
7} Finish by spraying Spray de Mode all over finished hair. Gorgeous!

Nailpolish is the cheapest, quickest and easiest way to update your look. The designer Yves Saint Laurent sent these colorful nails down his runway. Kortni Jeans Swimsuits
Summer is right around the corner which means SWIMMING! We are super excited because Kortni Jeane has just announced she is going to start mass producing her swimsuits (in a factory) so she can spread her swimsuit love far and wide! They should be available later this Summer but in the meantime if you're still in the market for a new swimsuit she has opened a Etsy shop or for all you locals you can contact her by email and try them on before you buy. They're all one of a kind which we LOVE...it means you will be the only one at the pool wearing it!

Bows bows bows
We have been inspired by bows lately. They're feminine, fun and thanks to Lady Gaga they can even be edgy! We love the idea of pulling a few pieces of hair back and tying them in a little bow on the back of your head (top picture). This weekend we want to try that big "hair-bow" (shown at the bottom), it would be fun for a party! Have a good weekend!

hair how-to: Unruly Bangs
Have you ever had a bad bang day? If you have bangs you know exactly what I'm talking about! It may just be "one of those days" or maybe you're new to bangs and you're still trying to figure out how to manage them but here are a few tricks we have put together to keep them under control!
1} One of the biggest mistakes is letting their bangs air-dry and then trying to style them, once they're dry you've lost all control! Get to your bangs when they're still wet; hop out of the shower, comb them forward and blow dry them right away and get them exactly how you want them. It's a bangsaver!
2} Cowlick problem? You can still have bangs, it's just in the way you style them! If you want to wear them straight across while blow drying them brush them to the left, to the right, backwards, forward and then straight down. That and a little hairspray should help control those crazy cowlicks!
3} Bumble and bumble's Hair Powder is amazing for bangs (and the rest of your hair for that matter)! If they get greasy or you used to much product mid-day or on second-day hair, spray a little bit and it will absorb all the oils.
4} When you blow dry your bangs, blow them in all directons. Especially direct them in the opposite direction you wear them, it keeps them from being flat and limp.
5} If your bangs still arent behaving, a cute braid, twist, headband or hat should do the trick! Pin It

hair how-to: frizz-free curls
Keep your curl with this foolproof (and frizz-proof) recipe:
1} Spray damp hair all over with Tonic Lotion. 2} Work Defining Creme through hair. Start at the nape and move toward the front of the hair.
3} Squeeze while letting air-dry.
4} Once dry, don't touch (one of the biggest causes of frizz!) Pin It

how-to: Ombre Nails
You may have noticed the ladies of Salon K are having a major love affair with the ombre hair trend! Well we can now spread our obsession to our nails! We can thank Lauren Conrad for this trend, she was spotted in LA with a red to pink ombre.
So what exactly are ombre nails? It's a manicure using 5 different polishes of the same tone that graduate from light to dark. Paint the darkest color on your thumb and finish with the lightest color on your pinky. Make sure you pick colors that truly show a graceful progression from one shade to the next so the ombre looks intentional (not like you randomly threw colors on). We want to try it this weekend!

Hollywood Redheads
From siren to strawberry redheads have been popping up all over Hollywood. Hayley Williams and Rihanna have gone with the bold siren red. Looks great on them but it's definitely not for timid!
When we think of redheads we can't help but think of Christina Hendricks. We've said it before and we'll say it again, we LOVE her color!
Isla Fisher always looks lovely with her natural auburn waves.
With all eyes on the royal wedding we couldn't help but notice Princess Beatrice (how could we not with that pink bow fascinator?!). When you look past her amazing hats your will notice her more amazing auburn locks. Her natural-looking ombre keeps her hair fresh and fun but still proper.

New to the redhead scene are Drew Barrymore and Blake Lively. Drew is a color chameleon but we hope she sticks with this red for awhile, it looks great with her skin tone.
Blake lively debuted her red hair last month and proved that she can do no wrong! She colored it for a movie so expect to see her signature blonde locks back in no time.
Met Gala 2011: HAIR
The Met Costume Gala brought out Hollywood's hottest celebs with the most amazing dresses and HAIR! Here are a few of our favorite 'do's of the night. Starting with Blake Lively (who never seems to disappoint) who's blonde locks are perfectly smooth with the right amount of bend and curl.
Gwyneth also kept her hair down but went a little more beachy. We love showing off our natural texture, especially come summer time.

Keeping hair down seemed to be a big trend of the evening. Michelle Monaghan updated her look with blunt bangs, her dark hair looks gorgeous against that highlighter pink dress!
